Florida Keys man threatened to kill ‘lil Bull**** Hitler,’ cops say. He’s now in jail.
A Florida Keys man is in county jail after police say he made online threats against a city official last year.
Darryl Bergeron, 56, is being held on bond of $25,000 after being arrested Thursday on a felony charge of writing a note to kill or injure.
Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies say Bergeron posted a message on Facebook in late October calling Sean Conner, ports director for the city of Marathon, “Lil’ bull [expletive] Hitler,” saying it was “time to kill” him, according to Bergeron’s arrest report.
The message was posted on a Facebook page for people who live on their boats in Boot Key Harbor, a mooring field in Marathon. Bergeron lives on his boat, named the About Time.
Conner’s staff told him about the post on Jan. 1, Deputy Juan Carlos Marino stated in his report.
Marino interviewed Bergeron days later, and he told the deputy that he posted the message.
Conner told Marino that he evicted Bergeron from the Marathon City Marina on 35th Street about five years ago, and that Bergeron has held a grudge against him ever since.
“The victim perceives the threats made by the defendant real and has a well rounded fear that the defendant is going to carry out the threats he made on Facebook,” Marino wrote.
