Man wanted for Arkansas woman’s murder arrested at Key West airport
A 48-year-old Arkansas man suspected of murder in that state was arrested Monday by Florida Keys deputies as he was walking off a flight that had landed at Key West International Airport, police said.
Shawn Cone was arrested by Airport Deputies Sonya Morgan and David Cruz at about 11:45 a.m. as he got off a flight from Miami, said Monroe County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Adam Linhardt.
Police will return him to his home state to face charges in connection with the killing of 50-year-old Alissa Reynolds, who was found dead Sunday in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
Cone had a credit card with Reynolds’ name on it as well as $3,000 cash.
On Tuesday afternoon, Cone remained in a Florida Keys jail.
Jonesboro Police contacted U.S. Customs and Border Protection with information that Cone might be headed to Key West.
Cone started his air travel in Memphis, Tennessee, heading to Florida, according to KAIT 8 in Jonesboro.
The federal agency notified the sheriff’s office and American Airlines.
American Airlines confirmed to police that Cone was on the plane and provided his seat number. Cone was arrested promptly as he exited the stairs of the plane, Linhardt said.
Airport Sgt. Vicki Lockwood notified Jonesboro Police that Keys deputies had Cone in custody. He was jailed at the Stock Island Detention Center.
