Monroe County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man detectives say attempted to kill his mother's live-in boyfriend by hitting him in the head with a glass ashtray last month.
On Thursday, MCSO announced that there is a warrant for the arrest of Adrian Rodriguez, 26, in connection with the May 12th incident.
According to the sheriff's office, Rodriguez allegedly hit Daniel Rivero, 47, twice in the head as he lay sleeping in bed. He then broke two cell phones, before getting in his car and heading to Miami, the MCSO said.
As he drove north, deputies said he called 911 to report that someone was bleeding from the head at 103100 Overseas Hwy. in Key Largo. He hung up before giving the dispatcher more information, MCSO said.

Meanwhile, paramedics arrived at the house to find Rivero with a serious head injury. He was taken to Mariner’s Hospital and then airlifted to Kendall Regional Medical Center for treatment. Rivero suffered a fractured skull, a brain bleed and swelling on the brain.
Rivero told detectives that he and his girlfriend's son were the only ones home that night and he believes Rodriguez hit him because he and his girlfriend owed $550 in rent.
Anyone with information on Rodriguez is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-346-TIPS. Tips may also be submitted online at www.tipsubmit.com or via a text message to 274637 using the keyword TIP136.
