Delta Airlines employees got a surprise Thursday morning when they entered a plane at Key West Airport — a man sleeping in the cargo area.
Jamie Crabtree, 32, who is homeless, told deputies he planned on stowing away on the aircraft so he could leave the country.
According to the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Crabtree told Deputy Maureen Smith that he arrived by Greyhound bus Wednesday night, jumped the barbed wire fence around the restricted part of the airport and found the plane parked on the tarmac.
He then broke the seal on the door to the aircraft and entered the plane, where he fell asleep. The employees woke him up at about 6 a.m. Thursday morning.
