Escaped Keys inmate caught in Florida City
The Florida City Police Department captured a Keys inmate Sunday night who escaped from Monroe County jail late Friday afternoon.
Sean Michael Stacy, 37, went missing around 4 p.m. while working outside the Plantation Key jail facility at High Point Road as a maintenance trustee. Deputies found his orange jail jumpsuit nearby, said Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Deputy Becky Herrin.
Stacy has been in jail since September on charges of burglary, grand theft and criminal mischief.
Florida City cops arrested Stacy around 7:30 Sunday night "after receiving a tip from local employees at a local business that Mr. Stacy was recognized from a picture shown to them earlier in the week by police," according to a Florida City Police Department press release.
Police arrested Stacy in the 400 block of U.S. 1, according to the Florida City Police Department. Police say Stacy resisted arrest.
