A 38-year-old woman was jailed after police said she slammed her mother against a door for criticizing her parenting skills at their Key Haven home.
Megan Leslie, who lives with her mother in the Stock Island neighborhood of Key Haven with her daughter, 14, and son, 2, was “nodding off” and unable to properly take care of the toddler, Leslie’s mother told Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies.
When Leslie’s mother tried to wake her up, an argument began and Leslie allegedly shoved her mother, jumped off the bed, grabbed her by the shoulders, lifted her off the floor and pushed her into the door, the arrest report states.
Because the woman is 67, the charge Leslie faces is a felony. Florida makes it a felony to batter anyone age 65 or older.

Leslie’s 14-year-old daughter said she was able to separate the two and call police.
The incident happened at about 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Leslie’s mother said Megan has a history of drug use and had had a relapse recently, police said.
The 14-year-old daughter told police she is afraid of her mother and believes she may hurt someone in the family. Leslie denied shoving her mother into the wall and said she only grabbed her by the shirt and walked her out of her room.
Leslie remained jailed at the Stock Island Detention Center on $10,000 bond.
