The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating an incident captured on video and posted online that shows troopers using a stun gun on an elderly man with his arms raised on the 18-Mile Stretch in the Florida Keys.

FHP spokeswoman Capt. Nancy Rasmussen said in a statement: “This incident is currently under investigation.”

She said “once the investigation is closed,” FHP will release more details.

The incident happened around 4:45 p.m. Feb. 14 at mile marker 112.5 of U.S. 1, said FHP spokeswoman Lt. Kathleen McKinney. That’s right around the Miami-Dade/Monroe County line.

It is not known why the minivan in which the man was a passenger was pulled over.

The video shows one trooper pull the man out of the vehicle. The man came out with his arms raised.

The trooper puts the man’s arms behind his back, while at the same time, another trooper shoots the man with his Taser stun gun. The man yells and falls to the ground.
