At least two people died in a mobile home fire that began around 3 a.m. Wednesday in unincorporated Broward County near Fort Lauderdale, according to Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Firefighters came to the scene based on reports of a sparking air conditioning unit, but then the 911 caller told them the mobile itself was aflame. The people trapped inside weren’t responding to neighbors banging on the windows, the caller said.

Five minutes after Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue made their way inside, the fire intensified, forcing the fire fighters to attack the blaze from outside. After 30 minutes, the fire was contained. Inside, rescuers found the bodies of Armando Hernandez Valdez, 51, and his daughter, Ana Hernandez Marrero, 11.

The State Fire Marshal along with BSO homicide detectives are investigating the fire at 1361-C SW 44th Ter, in Broadview Park.
