Man accused of killing 3-year-old is arrested
A 28-year-old man accused of killing his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son has been arrested.
He was taken into custody Tuesday night in Lauderhill, brought to the Broward County Jail and was charged with murder.
Police say little Khyese Anthony Coach died while in the care of Corey Gordon on Monday as his mom, Chantel Haye, 20, was working on her first day at a telemarketing company in Boca Raton.
When Gordon picked up Haye at about 3:45 p.m. she noticed her son was unresponsive and his body was cold.
“He hurt him to the point where he was lifeless,’’ Haye told Miami Herald news partner CBS4. “He took his life away from him. And away from me and my mom.”
BSO said in a release: “Corey Gordon began to cry and stated there was a problem with Khyese. Haye demanded that he rush her to the hospital. He left her at Coral Springs Medical Center around 5 p.m. and fled.”
BSO homicide detectives were called to the hospital after Haye, who lives in Sunrise, appeared in the emergency room with her son’s lifeless body. An autopsy by the Broward County Medical Examiner ruled Khyese’s death a homicide.
Khyese’s grandmother, Glenda Haye, told CBS4 Khyese’s injuries were severe.
“She look at his stomach and there was bruises all over his stomach and like he punch him in his temple,” Glenda Haye said.
Glenda Haye said her grandson told her just three days ago that Gordon punched him in the stomach.
“Khyese was so afraid of him,” she said.
He was arrested on Tuesday night.
