Robber violently snatches gold chain from 72-year-old woman as cameras roll
He noticed the 72-year-old woman’s gold necklace as he walked into a Pompano Beach Wendy’s, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
He then exited, found a spot near the front entrance and waited for her to come out.
When she did, he pounced.
“He then violently pushed the petite victim to the ground and ripped a gold chain from around her neck,” BSO Spokeswoman Gina Carter said in a news release.
On Monday, BSO released surveillance video — which captured the entire incident including the moment he throws the woman to the pavement — from the July 24 incident at Wendy’s, 2500 W. Atlantic Blvd., in hopes of nabbing the thief.
Detectives described the robber as a “tall young man” with a medium complexion and short black hair. He was last seen in a a light-colored, button-up shirt and dark pants.
Anyone with information is asked to call BSO Det. Steven Hoover at 954-321-4209 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
