A man died after a diving accident in Pompano Beach, authorities said Thursday.
Douglas Jones, 52, was diving off of Pompano Beach in about 10 feet of water near 1000 S. Ocean Blvd. with a friend just before 11 p.m. Tuesday, Broward sheriff’ deputies said.
The man “advised ... he was in trouble,” and his friend carried him to shore and began performing CPR, authorities said.
When Pompano Beach Fire Rescue arrived, the man was unconscious and in cardiac arrest. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, where he died shortly before midnight, authorities said.
