Fort Lauderdale police identify woman found with fatal gunshot wound

Fort Lauderdale police on Monday identified the young woman who was found with a fatal gunshot wound Sunday night in a residential neighborhood.

Lakendra Jones, 18, of Fort Lauderdale was found at 741 Northwest Third Ave, "unconscious and heavily bleeding," at about 7:30 p.m., according to police.

Officers administered CPR before Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue arrived and took her to Broward Health Medical Center, where she died.

It was not clear where or when she was shot.
