Police stumped: Who stole $60,000 stump grinder from storage facility?

Two men drove into a Hollywood storage facility in a pick-up truck and drove out with a $60,000 stump grinder.

The problem: the expensive piece of equipment, which was on a trailer, was not theirs.

Stumped detectives on Wednesday released surveillance video that clearly shows the men loading up the grinder.

The incident happened about 6 a.m. June 17 at Uncle Bob’s Storage facility, 7901 Sheridan St.

Police say the men, who were in a white Ford Ranger, were able to get into the gated facility by tailing another car. The video then shows them examining the orange Carlton 7500 stump grinder, which was on a black trailer.

The men, police said, switched the license tag on the trailer, hitched it to their truck and took off.

Anyone with information is asked to call Hollywood Police Department at 954-967-4411 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
