Over 30 dogs rescued from burning Dania Beach home

Almost three dozen dogs have been rescued from a house fire in Dania Beach Thursday night.

The fire broke out at around 10:50 p.m. at home in the 200 block of Park Street.

A total of 34 dogs have been rescued. Nine have been taken to a vet, five are in critical condition and one was pronounced dead.

Many of the dogs were seen being given oxygen by firefighters.

The cause of the fire is still unknown.

Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue spokesman Michael Jachles told The Associated Press firefighters went inside the home but were obstructed by the many items inside. He says they also kept finding dogs, many of whom were unconscious.

He says no people were at the home, which authorities are calling a hoarder house, at the time of the fire.
