Fisherman charged with murder after running over elderly man, BSO says
A 26-year-old man from Fort Lauderdale was arrested Thursday night and charged with murder after authorities say he struck an elderly man with his white Ford Ranger truck at Everglades Holiday Park after a dispute the night before.
The 81-year-old man, identified as Luis Angel Dominguez, died at Memorial Regional Hospital on Wednesday night.
According to Broward Sheriff’s Office, witnesses told detectives that Kyle Christopher Hannover, 26, of 2709 SW 46th Ct., Fort Lauderdale, hurled a rock at Dominguez’s car near the boat ramp at the park, 21940 Griffin Rd. The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Witnessess told detectives the argument escalated when Hannover, who was at the park fishing with a friend, began to yell racial slurs at Dominguez, BSO said.
Dominguez got out of his car and “Hannover then got into his white Ford Ranger truck and drove directly toward the victim striking him with the pickup,” according to BSO. Dominguez was gravely injured and died about an hour later.
“He proceeded to run the victim over” after hitting him with a rock, said BSO spokeswoman Gina Carter.
Hannover’s friend witnessed the argument but left the park prior to the murder, BSO said.
