Hallandale Beach condo fire displaces two families, spurs evacuation
A two-alarm fire at a 15-story condominium displaced two families Saturday afternoon and required the evacuation of about 40 more people while firefighters worked.
Fire units were called to the Avant Garde, 2017 S. Ocean Drive, at 4:07 p.m. about a fire that appeared to have originated in unit 207. In addition to Hallandale Beach Fire Rescue, Broward Sheriff's Fire Rescue, Hollywood, Miramar and Pembroke Pines crews responded.
