Florida man wanted ride home — so he stole a meat truck, cops say
A Miami-Dade man without a ride home meat-jacked a tractor-trailer packed with beef from a Wal-Mart parking lot, the Palm Beach Post reports.
The theft happened Friday in the West Palm Beach area. Ernest Herrera, 22, told deputies he stole the truck to get home because he doesn’t have a car, according to the report.
Herrera, a mechanic who had a universal key for the tractor-trailer, drove the truck to Hialeah after visiting family in Palm Beach County. He told investigators he didn’t want the meat — only the ride.
He got another ride: to jail.
