Police: 71-year-old man shot by police during standoff in Coral Springs arrested

A 71-year-old Coral Springs man was arrested and charged with six counts of attempted murder and one count of aggravated assault after police say he shot at officers during a standoff.

Police were called out to Richard Euler's house at 8358 NW 14th Ct. by Euler's daughter. His daughter told police that she had received a call from her brother telling her that her dad had barricaded himself in his bedroom, according to a police report.

When police arrived a negotiating team tried to talk Euler out. According to Euler's arrest report, Euler fired one shot in an unknown direction and twice shot through the door at officers.

He then pointed the gun out a window and he was shot by a police officer in the hand, the report says. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. Two guns were found in the bedroom.
