Two men died after their car plunged into a Davie canal.

The bodies of two men were found in a submerged car in a Davie canal.

The crash occurred at 1400 S. Flamingo Rd., in a small canal that runs along the road.

Davie police said Saturday that David Dobbs, 23, and Matthew Salenieks, 25, were found inside the vehicle.

“There are guard rails all the way down Flamingo Road, so at this point it looks like the vehicle made a right turn, right at about the 1300 block, traveling between two guard rails to get into the somewhat-private neighborhood here,” Davie police Lt. Ed Smith said. “And they either lost control or whatever and went off the road.”

“They were just good kids, good-hearted, good family,” said Ted Whitlock, a friend of the family who said his son was David’s best friend. “All around great kid. I loved him very much.”
