Mother, child in stroller struck by SUV in Fort Lauderdale
A mother and her toddler were hospitalized after they were struck by an SUV while crossing at a crosswalk in Fort Lauderdale.
Police said the woman was crossing near Southwest 35th Street and Davie Boulevard Sunday night with her child in a stroller when the eastbound SUV hit them.
Flip-flops, a stroller and other debris were scattered across the street as investigators collected evidence.
The driver, Carmen Perez, remained on the scene and was cooperative with officers.
“In a fraction of seconds and she was just under the car,” said Perez, visibly shaken from the accident.
“It’s really bad. It’s really sad to know exactly that someone got hit by a car. But, you know, it’s a good thing that the person stayed on scene,” said Husani Blake, who witnessed the accident.
The mother and child were taken to Broward General Hospital in unknown condition.
