Teenager and child injured in Dania Beach hit-and-run
A teenager and a child were struck by a vehicle Monday night in Dania Beach.
The vehicle that struck them left the scene.
The crash happened at 100 Bryan Rd. just before 7 p.m., officials said.
The Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue took the two victims to Memorial Regional Hospital.
According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, the child was taken as a pediatric trauma alert patient.
“They were walking on the right side of Bryan Road and it was dark,” BSO spokeswoman Dani Moschella said late Monday night.
Detectives said the vehicle is a two-door, white, Toyota pickup truck or SUV.
Investigators say the driver left behind a critical clue.
“This is the emblem from the vehicle’s grille,” said Moschella as she held up the familiar logo that adorns all Toyota vehicles. “We are asking anyone who saw what happened to call the Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic homicide unit.”
The passenger side fog light is missing from the vehicle and the headlight is broken.
Detectives said an after-the-fact witness saw a white Toyota fleeing the scene and alerted police.
Both victims are in critical condition, according to BSO.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
