Fort Lauderdale police arrest man following shooting near gas station
One man shot another following an argument Monday night, according to Fort Lauderdale police. The shooting suspect, 31-year-old Erik Edward Cass, was arrested.
Cass and an unidentified man were involved in a “verbal disturbance” near a gas station at 901 W. Commercial Blvd. around 8 p.m., police said, when Cass pulled out a firearm and shot the man.
Cass ran but was later found and arrested.
He was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon or ammo by a convicted Florida felon and probation violation. Cass is being held at the Browad County Main Jail on $12,500 bond.
The shooting victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
