A man was arrested Sunday afternoon, several hours after he allegedly shot and killed another man in Pompano Beach.
Kerveney Arthelus, 28, is accused of shooting at an older man who was standing under a tree outside an apartment building in the 200 block of Northwest Ninth Street. He was charged with first-degree murder.
Homicide detectives said they found a handgun in Arthelus’ car. The dead man, who was not immediately identified, was probably an innocent bystander, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Witnesses told detectives that the Arthelus had been banging on apartment doors with a gun in his hand before they heard a gunshot. They said the victim was a nice man who often stood outside the building.
