Bicyclist dies day after hit-and-run crash in Fort Lauderdale
A man died Sunday, a day after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle in Fort Lauderdale.
The driver of the car then took off without stopping to help, Fort Lauderdale police said.
According to police, James Ortibez, 39, was traveling west on the 900 block of Northwest 13th Street on a bicycle when the car struck him, knocking him off the bike and into the street.
Ortibez was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, but died Sunday morning.
Police said the car is believed to be a 2009-2012 four-door Volkswagen CC.
