Two Broward cities offer sandbags in preparation for possible storm

Hallandale Beach and Hollywood are trying to help residents prepare for the potential impact of Tropical Storm Erika by giving away sandbags to city residents Friday and Saturday.

Hallandale Beach's distribution will be from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m., Saturday, at the Public Works Compound, 630 NW Second St., Hallandale Beach. Residents must show proof of residence and will be given 10 bags per address.

In Hollywood, residents can pick up 10 bags per household with proof of residence from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Public Works Administration Complex, 1600 S. Park Rd.
