Two people are dead after a motorcycle collided with a tractor-trailer on U.S. 27 early Saturday morning, according to the Miramar Police Department.

At around 1:40 a.m., Miramar Police officers responded to the crash on U.S. 27’s southbound lanes near Pembroke Road and mile marker 21.

Traffic had built and slowed down in the area, when the motorcycle driver was unable to stop in time and collided with the tractor-trailer, police say. Both people on the motorcycle were killed.

According to WPLG-Local 10, traffic had built up prior to the fatal crash due to a car fire.

Southbound U.S. 27 was shut down at Pines Boulevard while police investigated, though FL511 shows that the lanes have since been reopened.
