Four-year-old girl drowns in Plantation neighborhood lake, police say

A four-year-old girl died at the hospital after her father found her face down in a lake behind the family’s Plantation home Sunday morning, police said.

A four-year-old girl drowned in a residential lake in Plantation Sunday morning, police said.

The girl’s father found his daughter face down in the lake behind their home at the 500 block of Northwest 107th Avenue around 10 a.m., police said.

He immediately began CPR and called 911, according to police. Plantation Fire Rescue paramedics took the girl to Broward General Hospital, where she died, police said.

Platation detectives are investigating the incident, but the department said in a statement that, “Based on the information gathered thus far, investigators believe this to be a tragic accidental drowning.”
