Five injured at Daer Nightclub after wind gusts blow down gazebo: officials
Strong wind gusts Saturday night took down a gazebo at the popular Daer Nightclub at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino near Hollywood, sending five people to the hospital, officials said.
Around 7 p.m., Seminole and Hollywood Fire Rescue crews rushed to Daer, 1 Lucky St., and found five people with non-life threatening injuries, spokesperson Gary Bitner said.
A gazebo-like structure was taken down by the wind and five adults near or under it were hurt, he said. That portion of the nightclub was subsequently closed.
Fire crews took all those injured to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood.
The area was under a significant weather advisory during the time of the structure collapse. Forecasters warned that a thunderstorm could bring wind gusts of between 40 and 50 mph, National Weather Service Senior Meteorologist Chuck Caracozza said.
The thunderstorm has moved on, but light to moderate rains may remain in the area later Saturday, he said.
