Fort Lauderdale man dies in drowning, police say

Editor's Note: A Fort Lauderdale man drowned early Sunday morning.

Fort Lauderdale police got a call just after 5 a.m. about a man possibly drowning off the 200 block at Southwest Second Avenue. Witnesses saw the man enter the water.

Police worked with Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Aviation Unit to search the area. They found the man and Fire Rescue took him to Fort Lauderdale’s Broward Health Medical Center, where he died.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department’s Homicide Unit is investigating the case.
