Woman whose body was found on Hollywood Beach had been hit by a boat: FWC
The woman whose body washed ashore on Hollywood Beach on Wednesday night had been hit by a boat, authorities said.
Kellie Melinda Williams, 31, appears to have been snorkeling or diving in the area of Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park on Wednesday before her body was found, according to the Hollywood Police Department. The park is only a few miles away from where she was found near New Mexico Street.
Two fishermen were on Hollywood Beach when they saw Williams in the water and called police at around 8 p.m., according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Williams had injuries consistent with being struck by a vessel, the FWC said on Saturday.
“The FWC would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the family and loved ones of Kellie Williams during this difficult time,” the agency said in a statement.
Williams was from California and worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines. The FWC says she lived in Hollywood.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our colleague,” American Airlines said in a statement. “Our thoughts and support are with her family, loved ones and colleagues at this time.”
