Fort Lauderdale hit-and-run crash injures Broward deputy; driver on the loose
A Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy was taken to a hospital Friday evening after a crash in Fort Lauderdale, authorities say. Law enforcement agencies are on the hunt for the driver whose vehicle hit the deputy’s cruiser.
The crash happened around 6:15 p.m. near the intersection of West Broward Boulevard and Northwest 11th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale police said.
The driver of the car, whose identity and description have not been released, ran away from the area. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue attended to the deputy, who was taken to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment. The deputy’s condition is unclear.
The sheriff’s office and Fort Lauderdale police are searching for the driver. Traffic along Broward Boulevard may be affected as the search continues.
