Freight train strikes man, sending him into river in Fort Lauderdale: officials

A man was struck and killed by a freight train late Thursday night in Fort Lauderdale, officials say.

The collision happened near 400 Southwest Third Avenue around 11 p.m., near the New River. The man was ejected into the water and pulled out by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.

Police say the investigation remains active.
