Miramar police: Woman steals Hello Kitty car mats, while man distracts clerk

Miramar police are looking for a couple who detectives say teamed up to steal Hello Kitty car mats from an auto parts store.

According to police, the pair entered the Advanced Auto Parts, 7979 Riviera Blvd., just before 8 p.m. Aug. 10. While the man distracted the clerk, police say, the woman took the car mats and left.

A customer, who spotted her taking the mats, told the clerk. The man then punched the customer, police said.

The woman taking the mats and the man punching the customer were captured on surveillance video.

Police said the pair is suspected in a similar crimes at a another Advanced Auto Parts store. Police say the couple left in what is believed to be a dark colored, newer model Nissan Altima. Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
