Detectives are investigating a wrong-way, head-on crash that killed one man and injured another on Saturday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.

The crash killed Nicholas Addis around 3:29 a.m. on the 3000 block of West Sample Road in unincorporated North Broward.

Sult President, 47, of Pompano Beach, was driving a Nissan Pathfinder eastbound in the westbound lanes of West Sample Road over the Florida Turnpike overpass, according to the preliminary investigation.

At the same time, Addis was driving a Hyundai Tucson in the westbound lanes of West Sample Road, the office said. When both cars were traveling over the bridge in the center lane, they crashed head-on.

Addis died at the scene, BSO said. Authorities didn’t identify his age or where he was from due to Marsy’s Law, which protects the release of victim’s personal information in certain cases.

President was taken to a hospital for treatment of “possible life-threatening injuries,” BSO said.

The investigation is ongoing.
