A Thursday morning shooting left Fort Lauderdale police with questions as authorities investigate the death of a woman.

Around 5:30 a.m., officers were called to a possible suicide in the 900 block of Northwest 11th Place, the Fort Lauderdale Police Department said.

A woman was found dead with a gunshot wound to her head. Authorities did not say whether it was self-inflicted.

However, detectives are investigating as the case was “’suspicious’ in nature,” police said. What led them to the determination is not clear.

The woman’s identity was not released.

This is a developing story.
