Police chase driver accused of robbing a Broward bank. Then he crashed
A bank robbery in Plantation ended in a police chase and a car crash Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.
Shortly before 4:30 p.m., Plantation police officers responded to a bank robbery at TD Bank at 1 N. State Road 7.
Police say Tommy Duwayne Dennis, 56, went into the bank and demanded money before taking off with cash.
With the help of the Broward Sheriff’s Office and other agencies, police say Dennis was found in a car in Fort Lauderdale.
Police chased Dennis until they say he crashed into a barrier wall near Northwest 31st Avenue and Second Street in Lauderhill.
Dennis was taken into custody and hospitalized for evaluation.
Plantation police and the FBI continue to investigate.
