Broward sheriff’s deputies are looking for witnesses to a fight that broke out Sunday following a minor crash, leaving a 50-year-old man dead.

Wayne Brutton, 57, was arrested Monday and is facing a charge of manslaughter. He still remains in the Broward Main Jail as of Tuesday evening.

Sometime before 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Humphrey Willoughby, 50, was driving along Northwest 29th Terrace in central Broward, the Sheriff’s Office said. Meanwhile, Brutton was sitting in his car getting ready to back into his home’s driveway.

Willoughby sideswiped Brutton’s car, causing “minor damage” to the rear passenger side. As Willoughby reversed, he “inadvertently” hit Brutton’s car a second time before driving away, deputies say.

Brutton jumped out of his car and ran after Willoughby’s car as witnesses successfully stopped Willoughby’s vehicle, according to deputies. A fight broke out between the two men, in which Willoughby fell to the ground, a news release said.

Willoughby was taken by Broward Sheriff’s Fire Rescue to the hospital, where he later died.

Anyone with information is asked to call BSO Homicide Detective Louis Bonhomme at 954-321-4377 or submit a tip through the SaferWatch app. To remain anonymous, call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477 or dial **8477.
