Olympic stars Alysa Liu, Ilia Malinin coming to Broward. Here’s how to see them

You watched them win gold on TV. Now you can see them skate, twirl and stick the landing in South Florida.

Fresh from the Olympic Winter Games in Milan, Team USA’s star figure skaters — including fan favorites gold medalist Alysa Liu and “Quad God” Ilia Malinin — will perform at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise on April 17 as part of the Stars on Ice Tour.

Tickets are on sale now on SeatGeek, starting at $45 including fees. Though there appears to be few seats available online now, a Stars on Ice representative confirmed there are “plenty” of tickets left that will be available for purchase.

Fans can expect the skaters to perform much of what they saw at the Olympics along with unique group performances when all the skaters will be on the ice together. Stars on Ice is “purely all about the performance aspect of skating,” not competition, said Byron Allen, the Stars on Ice producer.

“This is an opportunity to see and experience the Olympic figure skaters and their Milan performances up close and personal,” Allen said.

Liu, the show’s headliner, has emerged as figure skating’s it-girl thanks to her signature striped hair, positive attitude and gold medal-winning performance to Donna Summer’s “MacArthur Park.” The 20-year-old World Champion and two-time U.S. Champion made headlines when she returned to competitive skating after she retired from the sport when she was 16.

“The music allows me to get there, which is why it’s so important I skate to music I like,” Liu told The New York Times. “I know every beat, I know every lyric. My body feels it.”

Joining Liu are her fellow “Blade Angels” teammates, gold medalist Amber Glenn and U.S. Champion Isabeau Levito. Also performing in Sunrise is Malinin, 21, a powerhouse figure skating competitor known for daring quadruple axel and backflips on ice.

Fans will be able to experience figure skating in pairs as well. The show features Olympic Ice Dance silver medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates, gold medalists Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea and Emily Chan and Spencer Howe. Additional cast members include bronze medalist Jason Brown and Andrew Torgashev.
