Pompano Beach man beat his roommate to death, Broward Sheriff’s Office says
A Pompano Beach man was arrested Tuesday after beating his roommate to death, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
BSO deputies and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue responded shortly before 1 a.m. to a report of a dead person inside a home at 2912 NW Second St. in Pompano Beach, the office said. Karim Shouman, 39, was found in the kitchen and pronounced dead.
Homicide and Crime Scene units responded to investigate. According to detectives, Shenard Jennings, 33, and his roommate, Shouman, “had ongoing arguments that escalated when Jennings punched and beat the victim, killing him,” the office said.
Jennings was arrested and is facing one count of first-degree murder, the office said. He was being held pending trial Tuesday at the Broward Main Jail.
His arrest affidavit and his attorney’s name are not available yet, Broward court records show.
