BSO releases sketch in hopes of nabbing West Park home invasion suspect

The Broward Sheriff's Office is hoping a sketch of a man involved in a West Park home invasion earlier this month will help detectives solve the case.
At least four people — including the person in the sketch — broke into a home in West Park in Broward County at about 8 p.m. Aug. 12 and restrained a woman and five children while they searched the home, according to BSO.

While the robbers were in the home, a man arrived, and he was also bound by the group.

The robbers “didn’t find what they were searching for and fled only with a cellphone,” a BSO spokeswoman wrote in a press release.

Detectives later learned that one of the suspects sexually assaulted one of the victims.

Even though the victims were told to keep their heads down, detectives were able to get a description of one of the assailants. He appears to be in his mid-20s to early 30s, is about 5-foot-10, medium build, has dreadlocks and has a tattoo on his upper arm, BSO said.

The robbers fled in an older-model, dark-blue, four-door Lexus, according to BSO.

Anyone with information is asked to call Robbery Det. Mark Copley at 954-321-4738 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477).
