A pedestrian was seriously injured in a crash early Friday morning in Hollywood, prompting a roadway shutdown, which has since been lifted.

Crews responded at around 5:55 a.m. to the 900 block of North Federal Highway after reports of an accident, according to Hollywood Fire Rescue. When they arrived, emergency crews saw the crash involved a vehicle and a pedestrian.

TV station footage shows the crash happened at a bus stop.

Fire Rescue officials said the pedestrian was a level one trauma alert, indicating severe injuries. The pedestrian and the driver were taken to Memorial Regional Hospital.

Police later said the driver has non-life threatening injuries while the pedestrian is in critical condition.

Authorities temporarily shut down the road in all directions near the 900 block of North Federal Highway, which is U.S. 1, to aid investigators. No additional details about the circumstances of the crash have been released.
