Two dead after fiery wrong-way crash on U.S. 27 in Broward, FHP says
Two drivers were killed early Wednesday morning in a wrong-way crash on U.S. 27 in Broward County that left one car in flames and its driver trapped inside.
The crash happened around 12:25 a.m. at Mile Marker 37, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Investigators said a white Land Rover Discovery, driven by an unidentified man, collided head-on with a white 2013 Nissan Altima driven by a 24-year-old woman from Palmetto.
The Nissan’s driver was going south in the northbound lanes, while the Land Rover was heading north. They were not able to avoid each other, FHP said.
The Land Rover caught fire, trapping the driver inside. Both drivers died at the scene, FHP said.
The northbound lanes were temporarily closed but reopened around 7 a.m.
