A Tennessee rapper who rose to fame with the 2015 viral hit “Hit the Quan” barricaded himself inside a Plantation home late Monday night for at least six hours, livestreaming the SWAT team trying to remove him from the home’s garage.

At 9:55 p.m., the Plantation Police Department posted on X urging the public to stay away from the 8600 block of Gatehouse Road, where officers were responding to an armed barricaded man.

Police later identified the man as Richard Maurice Colbert, 32, also known as iLoveMemphis, who boasts more than 700,000 followers on Instagram. Authorities said Colbert had an active warrant for written or electronic threats to kill.

Colbert was taken into custody nearly six hours after police’s first X post, around 3:45 a.m. Tuesday. A dog found inside the home was removed and released to a family member, police said.

@ha1s666 Glad they got him safely, hope they do the prop care🙏 but I can’t not share the fact they took the entire Tesla 😭😭😭 #iheartmemphis #safe #mentalhealthmatters ♬ [Raw recording] Record playback noise 01 (3 minutes) - Icy Light

During the standoff, Colbert livestreamed from the garage, including moments when officers moved in to arrest him. In the video, he could be seen holding his hands up in front of a wrecked Tesla as officers appeared to pry open the garage door.

“Don’t kill me, my hands up,” Colbert could be heard saying.

A family member told Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami that they had been trying to get Colbert help for days.

No injuries were reported, though Colbert was evaluated at a hospital as a precaution, police said. Jail records show he has since been booked into the Broward County Main Jail.
