A Fort Lauderdale emergency-room doctor killed a woman inside her home early Saturday morning and then committed suicide, according to police.

Their bodies were found after Coconut Creek police responded to a domestic disturbance around 4 a.m. Saturday on the 4800 block of Acadian Trail, according to department spokesperson Scott Leamon.

Jean Dominique Foureau, 34, was the shooter, and the 38-year-old woman has not been identified, Leamon said Tuesday.

Foureau shared a child with the woman, he said, adding it was unknown if their child was inside the home at the time of the murder-suicide.

They were previously a couple, but the recent nature of their relationship was unknown, Leamon said.

According to the Florida Department of Health, Foureau was a doctor at Broward Health Medical Center.

The incident remained under investigation Tuesday, but police “are not looking anywhere else,” Leamon said.
