A standoff with an armed man who barricaded himself in a home ended Friday night, Miramar police said.

Since around 12:45 p.m., officers were at a home in the 7500 block of Juniper Street trying to get in contact with Styvens Jean, 27, who was inside armed with a knife, police said.

It was unclear what caused Jean to barricade himself.

WPLG-Local 10 News spoke with neighbor Rochaya Reid, who said, “I’m just really shocked and surprised at the moment. I hope everybody’s OK. I hope nobody got hurt in the situation.”

By 8 p.m., authorities said Jean was arrested and would be taken to the Broward County Main Jail. He will be charged with aggravated assault and simple battery.

This is a developing story.
