2 rescued from the water after boat catches fire in Fort Lauderdale: fire rescue
Two people were aboard a boat as it caught fire in Fort Lauderdale over the weekend, according to the city’s fire department.
The cabin cruiser went up in flames just before 5 p.m. Sunday on the Intracoastal Waterway at the Commercial Boulevard Bridge, according to Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue.
The two people on the vessel jumped in the water and were found to only have minor injuries when firefighters pulled them from the water, the department said. Both declined to be taken to the hosptial, Fire Rescue spokesman Frank Guzman said.
Firefighters put out the blaze “relatively quickly,” said Guzman, adding that it’s cause is under investigation.
