Miami man killed after van crashes into him on I-95 in Broward, FHP says
A Miami man was killed Monday morning when he was struck by a vehicle on Interstate 95 in Broward, according to law enforcement.
At around 2:35 a.m., the 62-year-old man, who was waiting for troopers in the outside lane of the highway due to a previous crash, was struck by a 2019 Mercedes Sprinter, the Florida Highway Patrol says. The crash occurred in the southbound lanes of I-95, just before Hillsboro Boulevard in Deerfield Beach.
The van was traveling south in the outside lane, where the man was standing outside his car, a 2015 gray Toyota Corolla, according to FHP. The van’s driver hit the man’s car — and then the man — without seeing him.
The Sprinter’s driver has not been identified, but FHP says he was a 41-year-old man from Palm Beach. It’s unclear if he will be charged in connection to the crash.
FHP did not release the victims’ names.
