Fort Lauderdale man shared child sexual abuse images on popular social site: feds
A Fort Lauderdale man was charged Friday for uploading and sharing child sexual abuse material over the course of months, authorities said.
Ian Zachary Adams, 29, was charged with distribution and production of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors; and possession of material involving sexual exploitation of minors. He pled not guilty during his arraignment Friday.
Between July and September 2024, authorities received tips that showed Adams created multiple anonymous profiles on Kik, a social media platform, to upload child pornography, according to a criminal complaint.
Authorities said they discovered 20 files that contained suspected child sexual abuse material when they served a search warrant. The files depicted children ranging from 2 to 16 years of age.
Not only did Adams upload the files, but he also sent them to other Kik users, the complaint read.
During a search of his home, authorities also recovered devices that had a screen recording of a video chat between a 10-year-old and Adams, in which the child followed sexually explicit instructions from him.
Adams was arrested Aug. 26 and released on a $100,000 bond. U.S. Magistrate Judge Patrick Hunt ordered he’d be under house arrest and wear a GPS tracker. Jonathan Friedman, Adams’ lawyer, could not be immediately reached for comment.
