At least one Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy opened fire Tuesday afternoon on an armed man in Pompano Beach, the agency said.

The shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. at the 2300 block of Bay Drive, the sheriff’s office said, adding that deputies went to the area after receiving calls of “a possible suspicious incident.”

There they encountered a man who was armed and at least one deputy opened fire, per the sheriff’s office.
