Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a 16-year-old boy who’s accused of stabbing another teen to death in Oakland Park Monday.

Detectives arrested the teen, who the sheriff’s office has not named, Tuesday after their initial investigation determined he fatally stabbed 14-year-old Jordan Dowdy when an argument turned into a physical fight, said BSO spokeswoman Claudinne Caro.

Deputies and Oakland Park Fire Rescue were called to the 5400 block of Northeast Third Avenue shortly before 5 p.m. after receiving reports of a stabbing. They found Dowdy with stab wounds, Claro said.

Paramedics took Dowdy to the hospital, where he died later in the day, Claro said.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the 16-year-old was being held at the Juvenile Assessment Center in Fort Lauderdale.
